BLACK INK
For graffiti artist and illustrator Ata “Toast” Bozaci (1974) black ink is far more than just colour: It is the elixir which brings life into his countless ideas on paper. That is why the Swiss now turns to the origins and presents a collection of selected sketches from the last two decades in his book “Black Ink”.
In graffiti scene he is simply called TOAST, others know him by the name of Ata Bozaci, or as the founder and co-owner of the firm “Atalier” in Bern, Switzerland. As versatile as the person is the work of the internationally renowned multi-talent, who lately designed the private apartment of Gunter Sachs in the legendary castle at Lake Wörth, Austria. Although his murals, illustrations, and advertisements are quite different, they all share the same origin: a sketch made with black ink on a simple sheet of paper. With his book “Black Ink” Ata Bozaci allows for the very first time an insight into the creative developing process of his works.

FETISH BUBBLEGIRLS
There are sprayers who work several days on a commission for the municipal waste management. Others who sneak through dirty subway tunnels to write their name on a train within five minutes at night. And there’s TILT who prefers painting on naked women’s skin. As if graffiti wasn’t already strange enough, TILT seems to live one of the strangest fetishes of the today’s subculture, and does not only hit on widely opened eyes of the art scene. Throughout the last years he has left marks in several group and solo exhibitions in the American, Asiatic, and Oceanic art market, as well as in ten European countries.

Anna Waclawek shows how graffiti and street art became a serious art movement in the past decade and how it even claimed universities and art schools all over the world.
She works at the art history department at the Concordia University in Montreal and pursues the graffiti arts in America and Europe since the early 1990ies. AFTER THE LAUGHTER book
Herakut is the symbiotic name of a German artist duo, consisting of Hera (born 1981) and Akut (1977). If they had to pick a symbol to describe their work, it would be this: trees - two trees with trunks twisted around each other, so tight that you would think they have grown together to one. They are clearly and proudly rooted in a soil called Graffiti, but today have branches that reach and bend beyond the walls of the street. the hunt for eastereggs, which is rolling every year, made us fit the current issue to this little event - that is why you are able to check the EASTERFILE right now. the cover in matching color is designed by HERAKUT, who also were kind enough to fill some pages inside with a nice special and an interview. we probably won't be the only ones who are happy about that, because these two artists are definitely a outstanding team within the szene. the CIDE special is another nice easteregg, whose eggs are not only very colourful, but also equipped with great fortune of style. other than that, there will be a lot more stuff to be found, but we just won't tell you right away. small secrets are a part of the easter celebration and we do not want to spoil the party. 76 pages, language: german/english.
